We Provide:

The studio is equipped with easels, boards you can staple canvas to, a very large wallboard for larger works, a sink for washing up, a canvas stretcher for mounting canvas on stretcher bars, and other useful tools.  In addition to the attached sleeping/kitchen/bathroom space, the studio is furnished with a sofa for you to sit on to contemplate your work

You will need to bring:

  • Your own transportation!  Truchas is an hour from both Santa Fe and Taos, so if you fly into Albuquerque or Santa Fe, renting a car is a must.

  • Clothing: Depending on the season, be prepared for both warm and quite cool weather during the spring/summer/fall.  Winter is cold, but there are sometimes warm-ups, so a lighter sweater is also advised.  Bring good walking shoes, maybe boots if you intend to hike, or for the winter months - we do get snow up here!  Keep in mind that we all tend toward the very casual here in the village.

  • Food and beverages:  The casita is furnished with a functional kitchen.  You are advised to buy your groceries before you arrive, as most grocery stores are about an hour away.  Be sure to plan your meals/snacks/beverages ahead of time!  You will have a refrigerator and freezer to safely store your food in.  The water in Truchas comes from a community well and contains NO chemicals of any sort.  It is cold and delicious.

  • Art supplies: Bring your paints, canvases, brushes, gessoes, staples, stapler, and tools that you normally use.  You may wish to ship your supplies prior to your stay via FedEx or UPS.  If so, send them to:

                                                               Cardona-Hine Gallery, #82 CR 75, Truchas, NM   87578

PLEASE NOTE:  We will not be responsible for any stolen/damaged items, so be sure to insure your package!

  • May I bring my children or partner? We don't allow partners or children. We want to offer you the peace and quiet for your creative work! If you have an extenuating circumstance, please let us know.

  • Is my pet welcome? No pets, please.
